INITIAL THOUGHTS Extra Innings was the first sports game I ever played, and still to this day, I would say its one of my favorite all-time sports games. There were many games growing up between myself and my older brothers, some of which may have resulted in some brotherly bruisings (mainly only when me, the youngest brother, managed to win).
GAMEPLAY While the AI could use some improvement, this was a great baseball game. You could do anything that was typical in a baseball game, from pitch selection to swing type selection. It was all here. Possibly, the best baseball game on the SNES, as it was trying not to replicate the MLB, but instead, was trying to be its own, and it worked!
One negative is that you could not save your statistics from one game to the next in any mode, but it did save your overall record in the pennant race mode.
FEATURES This game game offered the basic features you would expect. The first being a pennant race mode, that you could set for 10 games up to 130 games. You could also create your own team, which was a feature most SNES games did not have. It also had an all-star mode, where you could take all of the best players, and have a one-off game.
REPLAYABILITY For its time, this game was highly re-playable for a baseball fan. However, in today's world, this is the kind of game you would only play one or two games for nostalgia purposes with so many better options available.
