INITIAL THOUGHTS Lego games and I have a somewhat checkered past when it comes to liking and disliking games. I thought Lego Undercover was a complete dumpster fire, while Jurassic Park and the of the Rings games were great. That being said, the Lego Harry Potter Collection falls closer to the top end of Lego games, with a caveat. If you want to come into the games knowing what is happening, you must either read the books or watch the movies first. The game does not do a great job explaining the story, and instead acts as a warm hearted parody of the game.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay is like every other Lego game that has ever been created. Fun, creative, and packed full of problem solving. If you have played one Lego game, you truly know what to expect out of this game.
One issue that keeps coming up in Lego games (and why none to date will make it into the hall of fame) is the horrible camera work. The camera does not allow for you to move it in anyway that would be beneficial to solving the , and instead, is mounted to a specific spot in every room.
REPLAYABILITY
There are plenty of collectible style items that would keep a completionist coming back for hours upon hours, but for the normal player, I think one play through of each game is enough.
RATING 3.6 Antlers out of 5 (Rating could have been higher had the story been addressed more and allowed for a fully moving camera to help solve puzzles.)
