A great football game on the Gameboy (which isn't saying much) where choice of team only effects your playbook, but not the skills of your team. I grew up playing this and seeing if I could break the 100 point plateau, which I did on a handful of occasions. My brothers refused to play this game against me, mainly because of how easy it was. The only challenge was playing it against somebody, but the limitations of the link cable meant you had to be within two feet of your opponent. Any rage moments meant a disconnection of the cable and an impromptu end to the game.
Having not played the game in almost 20 years, the game was still just as easy as I remember. I tried a game on the hardest level and a beatdown proceeded. The kind of beating that you are embarrassed to tell your mother about.
GAMEPLAY
A very easy pick up a play game (as most Gameboy games are). You can jump into the playoff mode or the single player mode, The playoff mode just means you face a progressively harder opponent as you move forward. Each team only have 8 offensive plays and 8 defensive plays, so pick your team wisely (even though you have not idea what your plays will be prior to starting a game). The only part the requires some patience to master is the passing system, but you can win easily just by running the ball every play.
REPLAYABILITY
Once you have mastered the controls (which is quite easy on a two button system), the game is too easy to keep replaying. Even on the highest skill level, you can easily win by 30 points.
RATING 2.7 Antlers out of 5 based on the easiness of the game.
