INITIAL THOUGHTS My first attempt at a play through of this game, I did not understand what the hype was about. The game was lame and boring. Go here, do a short puzzle, go there, do the same thing. I got bored and quit out of the game.
I attempted the game a second time, and the results were more of the same. I was bored out of my mind.
With the encouragement of multiple Twitch streamers, I gave the game a third attempt, and I am glad I did. For some reason, the third play through clicked, and I was finally enjoying the game play. Everything finally made sense. This game isn't about a story, and neither is any other Zelda game. This game is all about the game play and making your own story. Its about finding things and exploring the land. Its all about having fun in a world that was created for your enjoyment
GAMEPLAY
The game play in Breath of the Wild is fluid and precise. Every motion can result in life or death depending the battle you are in the middle of. However, there are times where the AI will do some unexplained things or seemingly get confused for no reason, resulting in some very easy fights.
NEGATIVE: There are two negatives with this game. The first is that it is extremely difficult to climb when it is raining. Not even the climbing gear helps during this time. The second negative is how fast every weapon (except the master sword) breaks. Unlike traditional Zelda games, the weapons break early and often. They are plentiful throughout the world, but if you like a weapon, you better find many copies of it and come back after the blood moon.
FEATURES
The master mode DLC is unfortunately Nintendo's attempt to get you to do another play through. Once you end up with 6 or more hearts, the game is just as easy as the normal mode.
REPLAYABILITY
The game has a moderate level of replayability, and I will explain why. Most people during their first play through, will go through and do what they see and head to Ganon as soon as the divine beasts are completed. However, if you do a 120 shrine run, you will see everything the game has to offer, and there is no longer any reason to play the game, unless you are setting your own challenges like Ebot102 did with his 3 heart run, and PointCrow with his permadeath runs.
